Home Sweet Home!

Thursday I moved into my house. My new address is 12 Coconut Drive, Key Largo... hehe. So me :) I don't have any furniture except an air mattress and a chair that I bought at k-mart. I'm trying to refrain from buying anything else, seeing as I'll eventually have everything here. I just have to wait until early September. So for now I'm playing HGTV... and trying to imagine how I want my furniture to look and where I want wall decor :) Unfortunately my refrigerator doesn't work! So now I can't even cook any healthy meals. My landlord is buying a new one and it should be here next week.. My best bud here in Key Largo is out of town for 2 weeks! Great opportunity for me to get out and about again by myself and meet some people. When I have time I like to jog around the park. It's called Key Largo Community Park. Very nice area; but I've got to refrain from continuing on to Sharkys for a beer after my run! LOL I guess that would defeat the purpose of exercise. I'm becoming quite the "pool shark", I play almost everynight! I LOVE it!
Anywho- Here's some pictures of my house

Found it!

Alright- so the apartment I talked about before is a no go. That one was on the lower level of someone's house and just didn't seem like it would feel like home to me....
I finally found one that I couldn't pass up. It's a house! Better to have more room then not enough, so it's kind of a 2 bedroom house with a beautiful kitchen! I can't wait to move in so I can work on eating healthier!

Random

I went to Anne's Beach- nothing special, but one of the only public beaches. The really nice one is a private beach that Stevie showed me and a went sneaking around to take some pictures.
And then another beautiful sunset from the park behind my new house!

Key West!

Stevie took me to Key West on my b-day! We left late morning and spend that afternoon bar hoping and playing pool! It was great. First stop was Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville! We visited the origonal Sloppy Joe's Bar, now called Captain Tony's. We went to the hogs breath, and some nude bar on the rooftop (no pictures there). Don't worry--- I wasn't nude! Then at the end of the day we stayed and watched the sunset at Mallory Square! Great day-

Ring Toss

After having spent most the afternoon apartment searching with my buddy Stevie. We decided we diserved a beer/vodka :) So, because he's a local and knows his way around and the best places to go, he took me to a place called Gilberts. Real cute place, right on the water, just north of where my new little apartment is (if that's the one, that is :) Anyway, Gilberts is a typical tiki bar and resturant. It wasn't to busy, so we sat at the bar and enjoyed a cocktail.
Then I discovered the ring toss!!! Best game ever. You have a hook on one side and a string hanging from the ceiling with a medium sized metal ring attached to the end. The object of the game is to toss the ring onto the hook on the wall. So Simple, So Fun!!!

Apartment Searching

It has been crazy trying to find a nice place to live down here for my budget. I've been checking craigslist every morning, calling on most of the available ones in Key Largo even-though the price range is to high... never hurts to calland ask, right?
Nice thing around here is that all the restaurants and bars are all dog friendly. People have there dogs with them at the table, on the
bar stools, etc. They even have doggy happy hours. BUT... it is incredibly hard to find a place that allows dogs to say in the apartment. I find that very bizarre. Anyway here is some pictures of a place that I went to see in Tavernir which is just south of where I live now.

Nice neighborhood, but just yuckky! The furniture was dirty, walls were cracked, tape all over the place, no stove, and just not a place I would want to go "home" too. Ste
vie and I went to see a place the day before this one that was posted in the Keys Reporter which is the local paper.... I can't believe they would show a place in such poor condition. We were given a lantern to walk through the place to even see. Wires were hanging from the ceiling, I was walking through spider-webs. I was so discouraged after that.

I did however find a place yesterday that I was lu
cky enough to hear threw word of mouth. (It's the 2 pictures at the bottom, pink house, and nice studio room) One of the instructors at Amoray said that the studio next to him would be available soon.
The outside is nice, it's clean, fenced yard, hot tub, full bathroom, nice little kitchenette. It's not in the area that I would like to be, but having a car won't make that such a big deal. Id like a place near MM 100, and this place is MM 105. Closer to work, further from friends. But this one I do see myself wanting to kick back relax and enjoy an ice cold beer. The landlord seems very flexible and willing to take some things out of
the place so I can use my own furnishings.
